Bentley has reached a significant milestone with the official ground-breaking ceremony for the next phase of the Bentley Campus in Hechingen. Following the acquisition of the neighboring property from Best Freizeitmöbel at the end of 2023, this third phase of campus development is now underway. The aim is to expand Bentley’s presence while strengthening its roots in the region.
As a global MedTech company with over 500 employees worldwide - around 400 of them based in Hechingen - Bentley continues to enhance its operations and capabilities. The development and production site in Hechingen remains the heart of the company, and it is precisely this deep connection that drives Bentley’s decision to invest further in its home base.
"The extension of our campus is a clear commitment to Hechingen - not just as a location, but as our central anchor point," says CEO Sebastian Büchert. "We are building for the future: for our employees, our innovations - and therefore for physicians and patients worldwide who rely on our products."
The development of the Bentley Campus began in 2018 with the opening of the first new office building This was followed by the construction of a parking garage in 2022 and the completion of the second expansion of its office space in 2024. Bentley is now starting the third phase of its campus development: expanding the existing office building into a prestigious five-storey facility with a new, more representative reception area. A new production hall will follow shortly thereafter. Both buildings are scheduled to be completed by summer 2027. The overall project also includes an expanded warehouse, an enlarged canteen, and the integration of Bentley’s Innovation Center - providing more space, improving work processes, and creating a future-oriented working environment.
The buildings are being constructed by Monika and Annika Sunnanväder, who are accompanying Bentley on its growth path. They are not only continuing the entrepreneurial legacy of their father Lars Sunnanväder, who founded Bentley in 2009, they are also actively shaping the company’s future. Lars Sunnanväder laid the foundation for what Bentley is today: a dynamic, internationally successful MedTech company with strong roots in Hechingen. “Their continued involvement and support for the new campus highlight a strong sense of partnership and carry forward the legacy they’ve built together with Bentley," says CEO Sebastian Büchert.
Recognized growth, strong momentum
Bentley was recently named one of Europe’s fastest-growing companies in the Financial Times "Growth Champions Europe” ranking – an achievement that highlights not only the company’s above-average growth but also its rising importance within the European MedTech sector. In fact, Bentley is among the fastest-growing manufacturing companies in Germany over the past decade.
This continued progress is driven by ongoing innovation. In the first half of this year alone, Bentley launched three new products following successful CE certification: BeFlared, BeFlow and the FEVAR indication for BeGraft. BeFlared - the world's first dedicated bridging stent for FEVAR procedures - is already exceeding expectations. At the same time, Bentley is close to completing patient enrolment in a pivotal clinical study involving Bentley’s BeGraft and Cook Medical’s Zenith® Fenestrated+ Endovascular Graft. The results are expected to pave the way for BeGraft’s entry into the U.S. market by 2028 - an important milestone that supports Bentley’s long-term ambitions in the U.S. market.
Space for collaboration and scalability
Keeping pace with this momentum means creating the space for Bentley to grow – for people, processes, and infrastructure. That’s why the next phase of the Bentley Campus is designed to bring teams closer together, strengthen cross-department collaboration, enable faster decision-making, and create an environment where innovation can thrive.
While Bentley’s global footprint expands, Hechingen remains its base for innovation and production - where the company is rooted, where its heart beats, and where it is shaping the future of vascular care.
